open_on_sunday's challenge this week is Mothers, which gave me an opportunity to post a snippet of my Giles/Dawn futureverse. This one is Spike and Dawn dialogue, rated G.



“Two months along?” Spike asked.

Dawn’s eyes widened. “What?”

Spike grinned. “I can hear the heartbeat. Can smell it.”

“Spike, that’s gross! Keep your nose—and your fangs away from… it.” Dawn looked down shyly.

“You know me better’n that.” He watched her for a moment. “Scared?”

“Terrified.”

“It’s Rupert’s innit?”

“Yeah.”

“He know?”

“Yes.”

“He doin’ right by you?”

“It’s the 21st century, he doesn’t have to marry me.”

“I mean, he’s lookin’ after you, being good to you? ‘Cause I’ll kill him if--”

“Spike!”

“Just sayin’”

“He loves me.”

“Alright. But remember, I can grrrrrrrrrr if--”

“Spike, jeez!”
