I wrote an Angel and Kate drabble for
open_on_sunday's "Sound" theme, takes place during The Shroud of Rahmon:
Everything seemed magnified around the box. Colors were more vibrant, smells more pungent, and sounds--he thought he could hear every voice and heartbeat in the city. Right now his sense of taste was the most difficult to ignore. Kate’s blood was rich, warm, and arousing. More than anything he wanted to drink and drink and never stop.
Angel knew it was a terrible risk, but it was the only way to keep her safe. He forced himself to stop drinking and listen to her heartbeat, slowed but steady, and thundering in his ears.
“Stay down or they’ll kill you.”
Speaking of sounds, when I picked up my mail on the way into work today I think I actually heard my bank account scream. I got a big honkin' jewelry and bead catalog from Fire Mountain Gems. Gah! Gorgeous stuff, and I'm only through the first teeny bit. They have these beads that are mint green with black flecks in, so that they look just like little balls of mint chocolate chip ice cream! Oh, I need me some of those. Just wait until I get to the pages of clasps and closures. That might cause the whole bank to explode.
Last night I made a jade and silver necklace that came out really nice. I started out with ruby (fake, natch) and silver rosette beads, but it looked too much, so I remade it with the jade. I got the jade on clearance at Michael's before Christmas so I was able to use a lot of it. I also made jade and hematite earrings that go well with (I'm not much for perfectly matchy-matchy things). Much rather be working on that stuff than Reference Desking right now, but that's the way it goes. Still hanging on to my good mood, which is quite remarkable for a Monday worky-night. I'm sure y'all will hear if, or should I say when, it decides to depart!

Date: 2005-01-25 12:33 am (UTC)Beads. I have way too many of them. Jade? That should be fun. Some of the fake, glass beads tend to be the prettiest. I get that catalog but try to keep my paws off of it. Not easy.
