I've been here 45 minutes and already I'm drabbling! This idea popped in my head last night as I was drifting off to sleep. I had watched an episode of "How Do I Look?" on the Style network that had a woman who had a very controlling mother who picked out all her clothes for her in high school, something that left her with lots and lots of self-esteem issues (not just the clothes thing, but the whole trying to control her life thing). Then later on I watched "First Impressions" where Wesley wears his leather jacket when he and Angel go looking for Gunn on Wesley's motorcycle ("How come I have to wear the girl's helmet?") Long story short--too late!--they melded into this:

Wesley brushed his hand lightly over the smooth leather of the jacket. It was much softer than he thought it would be. It was buttery soft, and the smell was delicious. Oh, if only he could have one like it. Then perhaps Jemma or Emily or one of the girls might actually take notice of him and confirm his existence in their world.

“Wesley, what are you doing? Come now dear, don’t dawdle. Your fitting is going to take up much of the afternoon as it is. Your father will want you home in time for your incantation lesson tonight, remember?”

“Yes, Mum.” Wesley released the jacket with a sigh. No, there weren’t to be any leather jackets in his wardrobe this term, or any term in the future, he reckoned. He turned to catch up with his mother and to face his future in tweed.
